Vasco de Mello holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the American College of Switzerland in 1978 and he has been the Chairman and CEO of Brisa - Auto-Estradas de Portugal SA - since 2000. He also serves as the Chairman and CEO of Grupo José de Mello and as Director-General of Banco Mello de Investimentos.
Since 1980, he worked at Banco Cresiful de Investimento, Citicorp Group, in São Paulo, Brazil. From 1980 to 1982, he served as Assistant to the Board of União Industrial Têxtil e Química, and from 1985 to 2002, he served as Managing Director of CUF Finance in Geneve, Switzerland.
Among others, he was Chairman of Companhia de Seguros Império from 1996 to 2000, Chairman of the Board of Directors of União Internacional Financeira, SGPS, S.A., from 2001 to 2004, and deputy Chairman of the Senior Board of Banco Comercial Português S.A from 2000 to 2007.
Today, he is also a Director of BCSD - Conselho Empresarial para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável, Fundação Amélia de Mello, Fundação EDP and AEM - Associação de Empresas Emitentes de Valores Cotados em Mercado.
